December 2023/January/February 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends

It now feels like Christmas is only round the corner, how did that happen! Christmas means so much to so many people. Those who are very young are extremely excited about Christmas day, at the prospect of Santa Claus bringing a new toy and the awe and wonder of him travelling round the world in one night and delivering the gifts is quite magical.

As we get older we realise how much goes on in the background to make it a magical time for us all. It is a time when families get together, if possible. Many people work over the Christmas and New Year holidays in essential services to keep us safe, healthy and fed; for which we are very grateful.

The most magical of all is the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. Seeing what is happening in our world today, we have a very real need of a Saviour.

Advent calls us to turn our eyes to the stable in Bethlehem where our Saviour was born. Advent in our church will include lighting of the Advent candles, Christingle, Lessons and Carols and a Christmas Eve midnight service on Zoom.

At the start of the New Year, take a moment to reflect on last year but also look forward at how perhaps, new and different choices could be made. Also note in 2024 we are celebrating 300 years of worship on this site!!! Definitely cause to celebrate. 😀 Look out for more information on this inside the magazine.

I hope you have a relaxing, joyous and peaceful Christmas, wherever you may be.

Rona
